 The Kinshasa School of Public Health aims to be a center of excellence in public health training, research and community services at the national and regional levels. Its core mission is to contribute to the improvement of the health and well-being of Congolese people by:

  • Carrying out research to identify and to resolve public health problems;
  • Engaging in community activities designed to promote community participation and to strengthen the capacity to build partnerships, self-sufficiency and self-determination.

Activities carried out at the school of public health are based on the following values:

The services offered by the school include:

  • Training at the master’s level in public health and health economics, as well as short courses in a range of public health specialties (e.g. research methods, finance, monitoring and evaluation) and continued education for health professionals.
  • Quality research to assess the burden of disease and its impact on populations, to identify solutions to health problems, to evaluate health services and ways to strengthen the capacity of health agents, and to evaluate the impact of health programs.
  • Support to disease control and surveillance, epidemiological investigations, disaster management, and quality control of public health laboratories.

KSPH’s advantages in the area of teaching are:

In the area of research, KSPH has established a wide range of experience, notably in:

  • National household studies examining a variety of topical areas including malaria, HIV, PCIME-C, nutrition, food insecurity, acute paralysis, reproductive health and family planning.
  • Behavioral studies
  • Studies examining specific at-risk groups (e.g. children and adolescents, pregnant women, students, people displaced by war, drug addicts)
  • National household studies examining a variety of topical areas including malaria, HIV, PCIME-C, nutrition, food insecurity, acute paralysis, reproductive health and family planning.
  • Behavioral studies
  • Studies examining specific at-risk groups (e.g. children and adolescents, pregnant women, students, people displaced by war, drug addicts)
  • Disease surveillance (monkey pox, polio, HIV in pregnant women)
  • Program evaluation (e.g. SANRU III, PMURR project, PMURR project/BCECO, Vitamin A distribution)
  • Health and demographic studies
  • Analysis of baseline data (cancer, tuberculosis, nutrition, diabetes)
  • Studies on sexual violence
  • Clinical trials on malaria, tuberculosis
